At some point in our lives, our parents and guardians are no longer responsible for us. You are responsible for yourself and your actions. This is one of the hardest rules per Jordan Peterson. At first glance that doesn't make sense but when you start pealing back the layers on this rule you realize things are easier said than done.

We not only dive into Brocks expectations of high school, we also talk about when we were in high school. It is really fun to hear a teens view and having a podcast helped get him talking to us!

Having a plan on the kind of parent you will be vs how reality hits feels like a joke sometimes. In all honesty we are just doing the best we can. No shame with too much screen time, eating nuggets again for dinner or allowing the extra snuggles in bed.

As parents we just see our teenager with his face in his phones, earbuds in, in his room and turned off to the world around him.

Is that really the case though?

This episode is without Bonita and in her place is our 14 year old son. Slow to start but then you get to see his opinons on today's different views, who he listens to and more.

Crystal joined us, someone Bonita has known since highschool. Who knew she was going to take on a journey of singing and writing shoegaze music. We learned that new term with Crystal, we are in with the times now.

Episode 19 - My Mama Trauma - Part 1

I decided to call this series Mama Trauma.

If you follow us on Instagram, I tried the whole talk into the phone camera akwardly but I announced we are starting a series of episoodes about my (Bonita’s) childhood trauma.

There were two women throughout my life before and after my mom left that were there to give my dad a break, to hear me out and be my surrogate mothers. Never to replace my mom but to bethere and love me for who I was and were exactly what I needed in the moment.

We promise there will be more episodes about this journey I had to take as a child but I wanted to start on this more “lighter” mode.

To add before my family backlas comes, these series are my experiences and is my story. You have yours, you may have what you heard. Now is my time to share. I don’t expect anything from you, from it. If you don’t agree, that is okay, you have your own experience and I respect that.

Cheers to the women that aren’t and never were my dad’s girlfriends, but still stepped in… I forever love and appreciate you. Here’s to one step to healing a little bit more.
